Experience "Over There". . .
.  . . with a research and education based Great War living history organization.

Based of out the upper Midwest, the Heartland Doughboys is an informal grouping of professional historians, academics, authors, reenactors, and World War One enthusiasts who strive to learn more about The First World War.  This  knowledge is interpreted to the general public through speaking engagements, experiential learning activities, and outreach programming.

Throughout the year, the organization's members hold roundtable discussions regarding topics of The Great War and host experiential learning opportunities for its members called immersion events.  During these immersion events, participants wear replica uniforms and equipment, carry original weapons,  and eat reproduced rations while learning about the daily life of  the American doughboy.  Referred to as "experimental archeology" this hands on learning allows students of the conflict to gain a better understanding of the sacrifices and hardships endured by the fathers of the greatest generation in the water shed event of the twentieth century.
